Match Preview: FC United Women v Wigan Athletic LadiesFC United Women welcome Wigan Athletic Ladies to Broadhurst Park for a NWWRL Premier Division fixture on Sunday 14 April 2019 – 2pm kick-off.

Luke Podmore’s side come in to the game off the back of a successful few days on home soil, picking up wins over both Merseyrail Ladies and Stockport County Ladies.

The Reds overcame Merseyrail to book their place in this season’s Argyle Cup final before boosting their titles hopes with a midweek win against table-topping Stockport, with both games played in-front of season-high crowds.

United will be hoping to round off what would be the perfect week and make it three wins in seven days when Wigan Athletic are the visitors tomorrow.

Unlike the two games earlier in the week, Sunday’s fixture will see FCUMW return to the Broadhurst Park 3G pitch.

The visitors come in to the game sat in 6th place in the table with the fixture their penultimate of the 2018/19 season. The ‘Tics’ have picked up 28 points from 18 games so far this campaign.

It’s been nearly two weeks since they featured in the league but four wins on the bounce in the Premier Division along with an Argyle Plate semi-final win at Blackpool FC Girls and Women last weekend sees them come in to the game in a good vain of form.

FCUMW forward Aimee O’Keeffe has also been in good form of late and will be hoping to help United keep the early-Spring momentum rolling tomorrow by netting against her former club. O’Keeffe joined United from Wigan in the summer.

It’ll be the first time O’Keeffe has faced her former club, after missing the return fixture at Abraham Guest High School in mid-November.

FC ran out 3-1 winners on the day with Kate O’Gara, Rebecca Foster and Jess Battle all on target for Luke Podmore’s side in a well-contested game.

The Reds will be hoping for a similar outcome in tomorrow’s outing at Broadhurst Park, so get yourself down to that football ground – we hope to see you there!
