NEW PLAYER: Paul ‘Charlie’ Ennis

Paul ‘Charlie’ Ennis (29) is an experienced midfielder who joins FC United from Ashton United.

Ennis started his career at Stockport County, playing in their youth team before progressing to the first team where he made his debut in March 2009 against Northampton Town.

In September 2009, he joined Stalybridge Celtic before moving to Welsh Premier League side Bala Town January 2010. At the end of the 2010/11 season he played for Droylsden, Cheadle Town and Witton Albion. In July 2011 he joined Northwich Victoria and in March 2012 he joined Colwyn Bay.

After a brief stint at Guiseley in 2013/14 he re-joined Stalybridge Celtic for a third time in his career. From 2015 he had spells at Hednesford and Curzon Ashton before signing for Ashton United in December last year.

On joining FC United Ennis said “I’ve had a huge amount of experience of playing non-league football and am familiar with this level. It’s brilliant to join FC United. I spoke to the Gaffer for five minutes, and pretty much made my mind up. I’ve played against FC United five- or six-times including games at Broadhurst Park. It’s a brilliant atmosphere to play in front of. I know the background to the club and I know a number of players who have previously played here; and everyone speaks fondly of the club. Another important factor was that I know what a family friendly club it is. I want to get my two children and fiancée involved in the club. I’m really looking forward to it.”
