Cameron Belford Loan Extended

Cameron Belford Loan ExtendedWe’re delighted to be able to announce that we have agreed with Nuneaton to extend the loan of Cameron Belford to the end of January, which is the longest period permitted by the FA outside of the transfer window.

Cam came on loan in mid-September initially as manager Neil Reynolds wanted to increase competition for places, and he was an unused substitute for five games. Then in early October with an injury to Paddy Wharton who had been ever present in the FC net to that point, Cam marked his debut in the 2-2 draw with Radcliffe in the Manchester Premier Cup with a remarkable performance in the penalty shootout, which has become a theme of Cam’s time so far.

Cam said upon news of the loan extension being confirmed: "Absolutely delighted to be extending my stay at the club till the end of the January and looking forward to whatever is thrown at us.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here so far and everyone at the club from staff to players, and the incredible fans, have played an enormous part in me wanting to get this deal over the line, and to strive towards making FC as successful as possible"

In response manager Neil Reynolds said: " Firstly I must put on record my immense gratitude to Nuneaton who made the move possible, Cam has been a fantastic signing for us, Paddy has been outstanding and I was keen to get someone equally good to provide competition for places. Cam immediately fitted in well, his professional pedigree shone through, and his attitude was exemplary as he watched games from the bench.

Then when Paddy unfortunately got injured, Cam was more than capable to step up to the plate and fit straight into the back line, and has now played ten times for us, and he’s getting better and better with each performance. He inadvertently put FC on the map with that freak goal but it shows the true character of the man who kept his head down and focused on his job.

To be able to secure his signing for at least until January is incredibly pleasing, and when Paddy returns from injury we will have two fantastic goalkeepers."
