Matchday Celebrations

Saturday will see FC United play their last league game of the season against Formby and celebrations will be in full flow at Gigg Lane.

Youth United Day kicks off celebrations at Holy Cross College, Manchester Road, Bury, with face painting, theatre performers and rap music. The fun starts at 12.30pm until 2.30pm.

The celebrations will be starting early inside Gigg Lane as well, so we advise supports to arrive in plenty of time. There will be three stands open on the day, Manchester Road End, Main Stand and the Cemetery End.

FC United’s reserve team will be receiving the NWCFL Reserve Trophy before the game. The under 18s will also be at Gigg Lane. We would like supporters to give both teams a warm welcome for all their hard work this season.

At half time George Best’s sister Barbara McNarry will be the special guest to make the Fairshare Draw. Barbara will also be presented with a cheque for the George Best Foundation. The cheque will be courtesy of the Supporters Network who organised a bucket collection outside Gigg Lane before the Salford game and also the auction and raffle in the Grant Arms Hotel, Ramsbottom. FC United would like to thank all supporters for their kind donations.

Representatives from various boroughs of Greater Manchester’s Youth Football Teams will participate in our own celebrations by parading their own trophies around the pitch at half time.

At full time the first team will receive their medals and be presented with the NWCFL Division One winner’s trophy. The first team and reserve team will then parade both trophies inside the ground.

FC United are appealing to all supporters to respect the club, Bury, the players and their fellow fans by keeping off the pitch.

The plans for celebrations could be disrupted and even curtailed if there is a pitch invasion and after the hard work put in by Karl and the team, it would be a shame if the moment of celebration is tainted.

After the celebrations inside Gigg Lane the fun continues on the forecourt outside. Supporters will be entertained by ’Sick Nurse’ a local punk band who are FC United fans, while the players get changed. The players and management will then join the fans on the forecourt to thank you all for the continued support throughout the season.

Don’t forget under 18s are allowed entry free of charge on Saturday.
