Margy's master plan

Manager Karl Marginson was pleased to announce that there are no fresh injury concerns ahead of tonight’s D-Zine League Challenge Cup Final whilst also revealing his ‘master plan’ on how to beat Curzon Ashton on their own patch to complete the dream league and cup double.

With strikers Michael Norton and Steven Moore having a goal haul of 101 between them this season there’s no doubt that they pose the Tamesiders’ biggest threat, so what is FC United’s plan to nullify the pair? Simple – “Stop them scoring,” laughs Margy.

But he explained there was a bit more to it: “We’ve seen in the two previous games against them that they like to drift out wide, but if they do that we can’t get dragged about, we need to let the fullbacks deal with them. We need to keep our shape.”

Margy knows that it is a big ask to take on Curzon at their own Tameside Stadium, but he is, as ever, confident in his players’ ability. “It’s a one-off game. They’ll be more than up for it especially because we’ve beaten them twice this season and it’s their last chance to win some silverware. We’ll have to be top notch to win tonight, but if the players give 110% that’s all we can ask for and we’ve got the players to do it.”

Only Jerome Wright (cup-tied) and Stuart Rudd (suspended) will be unavailable for selection tonight as FC United look to sign off the season in winning style.
